Get the ultimate stargazing experience with your group’s very own private astronomy tour guide: A senior-year astrophysics student from our summer staff.

Your guide will take you to a remote location near The Jasper Planetarium to look through a portable telescope and binoculars while they share the wonders of Jasper Dark Sky Preserve with you!

A message from your VIP private tour guide (summer 2022):

“Hello! My name is Tyler Burgardt, I am going into my 5th year studying astrophysics at the University of Alberta.

I have been working for The Jasper Planetarium since December, and I love to share my passion for the cosmos, answering questions on the entire universe, from astrophotography, to telescopes, all the way to black holes!

My current academic research is on mapping young stellar clusters through galaxies to see how they evolve.

For this area of study, my research group has gotten 16 hours of use on the new James Webb Space Telescope.

I also do research on neutron stars in X-ray binaries as well as galactic feedback bubbles.

I hope to see you on one of my private tours!

– Tyler”

Weather logistics

As we can have some flexibility in terms of the weather, we recommend you book this tour for the first day you’re in Jasper. If the weather looks like it’s going to co-operate, we’ll go for it!

If the weather isn’t looking good, we can mutually arrange to do things on the next evening that looks like it will be clear.

A reminder, we have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Tours cancelled less than 24-hours in advance can still be re-booked for a future date any time within two years of the original booking.

Even if none of the evenings look like they will be clear, we will still have lots of the above activities to offer during this tour! (In that event, we would pick an evening that looks like it has the best prospects for some clear skies.)

In the event that we go out and don’t get clear skies and the group wants to try on an additional night, we can do so for an additional $500+tax flat-rate.

Please NOTE: a 20% gratuity will be automatically added to private tour bills
